Dracaena pethera is a stemless perennial succulent plant with strong rhizomes, native to East Africa. It features flattened, thick leaves (at least 9 mm) with wavy reddish-brown margins and a distinctive pale whitish-brown hardened tip. The leaves display color variations including greyish-green, speckled, or light green transverse bands with dark green longitudinal lines. The 'pulchra' variety has pronounced markings with whitish-green, buff-colored, or reddish spots and irregular bands, often with partially prostrate growth.
